On Aug. 28th, 2015, the Japanese parliament approved a bill aimed at promoting and enhancing women's role in the workplace. Companies with over 300 employees were required to analyze their current status on women in the workplace and set numerical targets for promoting and employing women, implementing action plans by April 1, 2016. Last year, Germany also adopted a law mandating more participation of women on boards. Other countries are employing less legal means for pushing for greater participation of women in leadership.
President Linda Klein is the first woman American Bar Association (ABA) President to succeed another woman ABA President, suggesting a new level of women in leadership at the ABA, as well. From the perspective of her current ABA role and as a shareholder in one of the United States' largest law firms, President Klein will speak on the effects of women taking on increasingly significant leadership roles in the non-profit and profit worlds.
