Collecting fine wine for personal consumption is better known than considering wine as a legitimate asset class for investment. Actually, it is an attractive alternative investment that is gaining market recognition; each vintage is unique and limited. Wine investments do not correlate with traditional market strategies, and investors can "taste" the differences between investment grades or asset classes.
Because it requires physical storage and does not generate cash distributions during the life of the investment, wine has often been misunderstood by investors. Our speaker will explain how his group has made wine investing accessible to individuals and how they use a quantitative approach to building investable wine portfolios. He will explain how the wine market works and the potential upside to investing in wine. For example, over the last ten year the investments in the Liv-Ex wine exchange have outperformed indices such as the Nikkei, FTSE and Gold exchanges.
Come to a blind tasting and see for yourself. We will demonstrate how "to tell the difference" in asset classes. This will involve three wines from the same region with very different price levels, ranging from reasonably priced, to a special treat territory, to a top Bordeaux wine. Enjoy wine from both an asset management as well as a passion investing perspective.
