Open invitation to join SEGO Initiative's Fujisawa Beach Cleaning Project / Clean SEA program that was started in 2009.
SEGO offers an immersive family-friendly transformative approach to workplace volunteering and grassroots sponsorship activities. Fujisawa Beach Cleaning Project/ Clean SEA program involves 3 key pillars: volunteer, public education (via citizen science and art) and sailing. Teams of volunteers work together during a day of SEA service to restore and reconnect to the marine environment in Fujisawa, the Tokyo2020 sailing venue. They are joined by local students, and there is convivial networking aperitif after the cleanup to reinforce the connections and collective experience. “We can discuss the challenge of ocean plastics, single use plastics in our offices, warehouses, boardrooms and schools. But it is not as powerful as being in the ocean, or on the shore and seeing the debris there” says ACCJ Member and SEGO co-founder, Alana Bonzi. "The experience can help us to come together and co-create solutions, that go beyond departmental and sectoral silos, beyond the your problem/my problem dynamic and make a difference to someone’s lives ( e.g. employees, customers, communities)." SEGO has been vetted for equivalency to US 501 c3 charity status with selected US based Corporate Giving platforms that provide tax deductible receipts. The not for profit association also partners with Ocean Conservancy, Kanagawa prefectures and Fujisawa City. The first key volunteer date in 2020 is April 26th Earth Day Fujisawa Beach Cleaning Project/Clean SEA.
