The Alternative Investment Committee (AIC) promotes greater awareness about alternative investments (AI). Through its educational activities, the AIC covers venture capital, private equity, hedge funds, managed futures, commodities, real estate, infrastructure investments, timberland investments, intellectual property, art and historical documents, and other AI strategies.
The AIC explores emerging investment technologies involving blockchain, virtual currencies, and the “tokenization of assets.” The AIC also addresses topics of importance to investors in Japan such as ESG investing; ethical & corporate governance; and Financial Inclusion (providing access to financial services for those without access). The AIC covers CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) commitments, which are growing in importance for AI as well as for Millennial investors and ACCJ members.
The AIC celebrates ‘Passion Investments’ (such as fine art, whiskey and wine funds, and other collectibles).
