Get Started
The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ), in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy and the U.S.-Japan Conference on Cultural and Educational Interchange (CULCON), has launched the ACCJ Internship Portal – an online platform that posts student internship listings from participating ACCJ member companies.
The Internship Portal is part of a broader effort to support the call by the United States and Japanese governments for the private sector to encourage greater two-way student exchange. ACCJ member firms are seeking to incentivize study in the U.S. by Japanese students, and in Japan by U.S. students, by providing tangible assistance with entering international careers.

Success Stories
"I came to Japan in 2012 after requesting a transfer from Paris to Tokyo in order to improve my language and knowledge of Japanese customers. After four years, I decided to change my career path and to go back to school, earn a certification, and start a new work experience in a Japanese company.
Temple University offered me the possibility to achieve my first target. I registered for a Human Resources Certification program in January 2016 at Temple University (Azabu Juban campus) following their Continuing Education Program. I decided to mix Human Resources and Business oriented courses in order to get a full idea of the current work environment.
I never expected to start working in the Human Resources field before graduating from my program, but I am directly working on various tasks with the Human Resources team. Understanding what the implications of a Human Resources department are, what it deals with, what solutions it brings to workplace problems, internal communication, and so on is truly instructive."

"In Summer 2017, I had the privilege of working as an intern at the Amway headquarters in Shibuya, under the Government and external affairs department. This experience was exactly what I needed to conceptualize what working in Japan with a degree from a US school could mean for someone like me – a bilingual Japanese national studying abroad. There is this widely-believed myth in Japan which is that your likelihood of getting a job decreases if you choose to study abroad. However, this internship experience proved me to that not only is this myth false, but that there also is a gap in the Japanese labor market that can arguably only be filled by people who are truly bi/multi-cultural.
As an intern at Amway, I saw first-hand how the opportunities that come with having a global mindset are endless. I was allowed to visit the Japanese Diet with my fellow department team members to present Amway’s Georgetown University Leadership Program to members of parliament. I got to travel to Tohoku twice to support Amway’s corporate social responsibility program, “Remember Hope.” And I got to meet other aspiring interns through the ACCJ intern networking event and hear about their incredible experience at their respective programs. I learned, I grew, and for the first time saw a future in Japan for me.
I truly am looking forward for my next internship experience here in Japan and am extremely grateful to the ACCJ and Amway for providing me with such a rewarding first-time internship experience."
