IMPORTANT UPDATE
Please note that this event has been postponed until further notice. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and should you have any questions, please contact us anytime. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. Event Overview Willie Banks, named by Time Magazine “The United States’ Ambassador of Track and Field,” is a former Olympian who competed in the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics and held the world record in the triple jump for 10 years. Banks is also a successful businessman in Japan. Banks’ experience in 2001 serving as a consultant for Osaka's bid for the 2008 Summer Olympics Games was a master course in understanding how business is done in Japan. And now Banks is the master distributor in Japan for Fieldturf Tarkett through his company, HSJ Incorporated, which distributes artificial turf installed in stadiums including Tokyo Dome, Yoimiuri Giants practice field, and Kawasaki Frontale practice field. At this special luncheon, Banks will speak on navigating the Japanese market with a focus on three important lessons he has learned doing business here: the value of time and place, the value of knowing cultural norms, and the value of having a Japanese emissary. Despite having the knowledge and product that people wanted, without awareness in these three areas, Banks believes his business would have not succeeded. Please join us for this discussion that will take your business acumen to new heights! ABOUT WILLIE BANKS Banks has lectured at Chukyo University in Nagoya, where he taught law and sports and coached track and field. He also serves as President and CEO of the ANOC World Beach Games, which will take place in his hometown of San Diego in October 2019.
