Securities, Commodities, or What? How will Japan regulate virtual currencies, ICOs, and ITOs? This will be a “Fireside Chat” regarding the development of blockchain related technologies and the role and direction of virtual currencies in Japan. So Saito and the ICO BUSINESS RESEARCH GROUP have developed ideas about the definition of Coins, Token and Virtual Currencies and the manner in which they should be regulated in the future. Please join us for an engaging educational session about potential models for how Japan might apply regulations to this growing alternative investment class. Speaker Biography: Saito-sensei is a qualified lawyer in Japan and in the State of New York. His practice more recently is increasingly devoted to cryptocurrency, blockchain and ICO. He serves as legal advisor to the Japan Blockchain Association, the self-regulatory organization of the industry, and as external director to bitFlyer. He also serves as legal advisor to the ICO Business Research Group, a group formed by Professor Kokubun who is the managing director of the Center for Rule Making Strategies at Tama University. Member companies of the ICO Business Research Group include representatives of several major bank groups, securities firms, power companies, telecom firms and fintech firms. Saito-sensei is now a leading commentator and writer on the topic of virtual currency adoption, Initial Coin Offerings and Initial Token Offerings. He has been constantly discussing with industry practitioners, government officials and members of the Diet on the topic such as of the definition of “Coins,” “Tokens” and “Virtual Currencies” and the way they should be regulated in the future.
