11/7/2016 The U.S. Presidential Election and its likely Impact on U.S. Immigration Laws and PoliciesRead Now
Overview:
With the approaching Presidential election in the U.S.,there has been increasing discussion and controversy about the positions of the two leading candidates.Of particular concern is whether a new government which will assume power in early January will lead to "building walls" or "building bridges" and whether the United States will continue to welcome immigrants as opposed to establishing highly restrictive policies to limit those who would be welcome to come there either on business or as visitors. Will the U.S. find a meaningful way to assist the millions of those who are within its borders illegally? Will it create a "path to legal status and eventual citizenship" or alternatively will it create a "deportation force" to locate and remove these individuals from the country? To discuss this very timely and critical series of issues we are pleased to welcome Richard S. Goldstein. Richard has been a U.S. immigration lawyer for almost forty years and has law offices in both New York and London. Richard is a long time and very regular visitor to Japan and has travelled here on business twice a year since 1980. He has lectured to many groups in Japan over the years and has been a regular lecturer for Keidanren, the American Chamber of Commerce, the Japan Overseas Investment Association and the Japan Immigration Association. Richard has been a member of the ACCJ for many years. C. Christian Jacobson, Piyasena C. Perera, Co-chairs Nels Hansen, Vice Chair Eric W.
