Event Overview:
What is the relevance of Corporate Governance in Tech Investing? The speaker will share her wealth of experience of investing in the tech industry in Japan and Asia and the relevance of good corporate governance as a key part of the investment analysis. The approach to and regulations for corporate governance vary by country and are evolving differently in the region. However, there are certain trends that are common throughout the Asia region, such as requirements for independent directors on boards and diversity of those members and formation of independent committees. Minority investment protections and enforcement mechanisms and practices vary a great deal around the region. The speaker will share her perspective on the state of play and where the typical pitfalls lie in different Asian countries. Many investors continue to underestimate the importance of corporate governance in assessing the “health” of the company from a management oversight and risk perspective, and how to navigate the assessment based on a lack of uniformity in approach and rules in the APAC region and Japan. Our speaker will share her thought process for assessing corporate governance as an important criteria in the dynamic environment of tech investing.
