10/5/2018 Special Guest Speaker, Gillian Tett, Financial Times: Back to the Future; Lessons Learnt From Lehman ShockRead Now
Event Overview:
To many in financial circles in Tokyo, Gillian needs no introduction. She was posted by The Financial Times to Tokyo in 1997, becoming bureau chief at a crucial time for Japanese financial markets. She ran the Tokyo bureau until 2003 when she was promoted to be the Deputy Head of the influential Lex column. She is currently the US Managing Editor at The Financial Times, a position has given her a bird’s-eye view of the US Economy, Politics and the ever-changing shape of financial markets in the US. She has written a number of books – the first of which was the illuminating “Saving the Sun” which chronicled the rise – and fall – of Japan’s Long Term Credit Bank. In 2006 she predicted the global financial crisis and ”Fools Gold,” published in 2009, won awards for its exposé of the looming economic crisis and ultimate “Lehman Shock.” She is a sought after speaker and TV commentator, and today will provide insights to the ACCJ of the lessons learnt (or lack thereof as the title implies) from the “Lehman Shock” ten years on. Gillian will be happy to take questions from the audience on a wide variety of topics, leveraging her eagle-eyed view of the US economy from her role as US Managing Editor.
