Japan captured worldwide attention in 2012 when Dr. Shinya Yamanaka was awarded a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his discovery and research on induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells. As Director of the Center for iPS Cell Research and Applications (CiRA, Kyoto Univ.), he has assembled a world-leading institute focused on basic research and the practical application of iPS cell technology to regenerative medicine and drug discovery.
At this event, Dr. Yamanaka will talk about (1) the current state of iPS cell research and (2) future potential, challenges and plans for regenerative medicine and drug discovery. We do hope that you join us for this rare opportunity to hear from a recent Nobel laureate on his pioneering research efforts and vision for healthier lives for all people.
