7/23/2019 New Developments in JCAA "Interactive Arbitration Rules" and Arbitration Practices in JapanRead Now
On January 1, 2019, new arbitration rules of the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association (JCAA) went into effect.
The new policies, called “Interactive Arbitration Rules,” are meant to encourage the discourse between arbitrators and parties. The procedure will expedite arbitration, save costs, and prevent a surprising award. In this session, Professor Kashiwagi, chairman of the Study Group on the Vitalization of Japanese International Arbitrations, sponsored by Shoji Homu (Public Interest Corporation), will explain the details of these rules. Professor Kashiwagi has acted as an arbitrator in several JCAA arbitrations, as well as arbitrations for the International Chamber of Commerce and the Vietnam International Arbitration Center. C.
