Event Overview: Join us for the second event in our series focused around the six enablers of workforce productivity. On July 31, the Human Resources Management Committee will dive into "diversity and inclusion" as an enabler of workforce productivity with a special focus on LGBT rights. The ACCJ Viewpoint on Marriage Equality in Japan will celebrate its one year anniversary in August. In addition to the 5 Chambers that have co-issued the Viewpoint, the LLAN (Lawyers for LGBT & Allies Network) engaged with members of business, financial and legal communities to publicly express support for marriage equality. To date, in total 39 companies, chambers of commerce, law firms, financials institutions and professional organizations have joined this effort to call for the Government of Japan to extend the right to marry to same-sex couples. This event will feature a panel discussion on the impact of equality in the workplace on productivity and well-being. Speakers will include Evan Wolfson, the father of marriage equality who will provide the legal and policy perspective; Alexander Dmitrenko, Head of Asia Sanctions, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, and Co-Chair of LLAN to share his experience as a skilled worker in Japan; and Eriko Talley, SVP, Human Resources for Coca-Cola (Japan) Company, Ltd. The panelists will discuss the current successes of passing marriage equality legislation around the world, progress in Japan, and what companies in Japan can do to create greater inclusion in the workplace.
