Event Overview:

As a Millennial, do you feel frustrated by the lack of respect for how you want to work?
As a manager, do you feel there is a communication gap between you and your younger team members?
And, as a team, do you struggle to maximize each other’s true potential and creativity in pursuit of a common goal?

In the modern workplace, a new generation is challenging the way corporations
define the work environment. Innovation and change are happening at a
quickened pace, rendering traditional top-down management and command-and-control approaches ineffective. This generation demands more communication and autonomy, forcing “older” generations to reevaluate how they maintain functional teams when working with digital natives. Despite these
generational differences, the challenge remains the same: How can we utilize
these differences to build a strong, capable, and highly effective team?

In this workshop/seminar, our primary focus is on understanding changes being
brought about by Millennials, a group that will dominate the workplace in the
coming decades. To help you understand the impact this changing of the guard
will have, we explore the challenges and best practices of building highly effective teams that include—or may even be wholly comprised of—Millennials, as well as the differences among Baby Boomers, Generation X, and Millennials and how those differences impact performance—both positively and negatively—in a team setting.

Please join us for an enjoyable evening of interactivity and mutual discovery intended to heighten our sensitivities to generational differences while helping to improve team performance and the workplace experience. This workshop will be led by Doug Hymas, the country head for The Bank of New York Mellon based in Tokyo. Doug has been in Japan for over 25 years and has worked for Japanese and foreign-owned companies over that time.
