4/21/2017 Kansai CEO Series with Douglas L. Hymas, Japan Country Executive for The Bank of New York Mellon in JapanRead Now
Event Overview:
INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP: “The times they are a-changin’!” The theme of Bob Dylan’s famous song is truer today in the business world than in 1964 when it was first written. Traditional organizational structures and leadership models are buckling under the weight of new technologies, the velocity of information exchange, the rapidly narrowing information gap between management and staff, and the increasing distrust of authority figures and traditional information sources. The days of staff accepting the views and decisions of superiors without challenge seem to be nearing the end. For organizations of all sizes, the consensus for appropriate response has been inclusive leadership. Inclusive leadership is not merely desirable--it is increasingly necessary to maintain effective teams and to draw out the best that the talented younger generation has to offer. Please join us for a deep-dive discussion on diversity and inclusiveness in business led by Douglas Hymas, the country head for The Bank of New York Mellon based in Tokyo and a speaker on diversity issues, including LGBT and gender equality. Doug has been in Japan for over 25 years and has worked for Japanese and foreign-owned companies over that time. Based on his experience building and leading various teams, he will share data and insights on modern developments that are driving the change toward inclusive leadership, as well as personal experiences and examples of inclusiveness, team management, and engagement—most of them positive!
