Event Overview:

These are volatile times in cyberspace, and Japan is no stranger to the myriad of malicious events taking place globally. From targeted intrusions to e-crime to hacktivism, it is imperative that the Government of Japan, as well as other public and private organizations, understand the cyber threat landscape to adequately defend against cyberattacks from all angles.

In this presentation, Meyers will discuss the type of cyber threat activity targeting Japan, with a strong emphasis on the threat landscape of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He will detail the primary threat actors, their country of origin, and motivation, as well as tactics, techniques, and procedures.

There are also global lessons to be learned. Japan is not immune to the types of attacks regularly witnessed in other regions, and Meyers will discuss notable global threat activity and trends observed over the first half of 2019—including Big Game Hunting and Doxxing Kittens.

About the Speaker
As CrowdStrike’s Vice President of Intelligence, Adam Meyers leads the Threat Intelligence line of business, directing a geographically dispersed team of cyber threat experts tracking criminal, state-sponsored, and nationalist cyber adversary groups across the globe to produce actionable intelligence that can be used to protect customers. He oversees the development and deployment of artificial intelligence, machine learning, reverse engineering, natural language processing, and other technologies that are used to detect suspicious and malicious cyber behavior and stop increasingly sophisticated adversaries. Meyers’s work combining intelligence derived from technology with human intelligence continues to transform cyber security.
