Event Overview:
In July 2012 METI rolled out the Feed-in-Tariff regulations for launching Independent Power Projects based on solar generation. Since then, over 300,000 non-residential solar projects have been built, and the installed capacity of operating solar IPPs is now in excess of 30 gigawatts. Over the past five years METI has continuously updated the regulations and has gradually reduced the tariffs that utilities must pay to IPP owners. Has the so-called "mega solar" program been a success? What have been the highlights for investors, for Japanese consumers, and for the nation? Come to hear this evaluation of the last five years of investments in solar IPPs. The speaker will also discuss the future of renewable energy projects, not only from other sources of power generation than solar- such as geothermal, wind, biomass, biofuel, and others – but also in the context of the future Japanese deregulation of the electric power sector, and the emerging sources of additional financing for renewable energy projects, such as solar REITs, etc. For more information about the speaker, please click here.
