Innovation in the USA: Learn About the First “A” in NASA and Their Extensive Aeronautics Research Portfolio
Come join us for a conversation with Dr. Jaiwon Shin, NASA’s Associate Administrator for Aeronautics Research. In 2018 the Alternative Investment Committee is hosting several programs on venture capital investing in space startups. These ventures are part of a growing global trend of private investment in space, and they build on the work of NASA, JAXA and other government funded activities.
Dr. Shin will also discuss the exponential growth that is expected in the Asian aviation sector, and how NASA is working with Japan and other international partners to ensure safe and efficient air travel in the future.
Come to see how the government continues to innovate in its own programs.
Dr. Jaiwon Shin manages NASA’s Aeronautics Research portfolio and guides its strategic direction, including research in advanced air vehicle concepts, airspace operations and safety, integrated aviation systems, and the nurturing and development of transformative concepts for aviation. Dr. Shin received his bachelor’s degree from Yonsei University in Korea, his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the California State University, Long Beach, and his doctorate in mechanical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Shin has received numerous awards for his contributions and leadership in aeronautics research.
