Japan’s soft drink market is growing, driven largely by innovation and new categories. Coca-Cola has a leadership position in Japan—with about 40 brands and 800 SKUs—and ranks first or second in the top five categories: tea, coffee, sparkling, juice, and water.
Coca-Cola (Japan) Co., Ltd. is one of the most innovative business units in the world. The growth of new brands in this market has been a global highlight for the company. Of the 21 brands Coca-Cola markets worldwide that have at least $1 billion in annual sales, four were invented and brought to market in Japan: Georgia (coffee), Aquarius (sports), I LOHAS (water), and Ayataka (green tea). At this event, Khalil Younes, Executive Vice President of Marketing and New Businesses at Coca-Cola (Japan) Co., Ltd., will explain how the company is innovating and leading in Japan by introducing recent best practices. Also, he will talk about how to be a good leader in Japan based on his five years of experience with the company here. About the Speaker: Khalil Younes is the leader of Marketing and New Businesses at Coca-Cola (Japan) Co., Ltd., where he is responsible for profitably growing one of the most complex brands and categories portfolio of The Coca-Cola Company globally. He has held leadership roles with The Coca-Cola Company, the Carlsberg Group and The Procter & Gamble Company in marketing and general management, with local, regional, and global assignments in Asia, Europe, and the United States.
