Translational research is a highly interdisciplinary field, the primary goal of which is to coalesce assets from individual pillars to significantly improve the global healthcare system. Translational medicine aims to promote enhancements in prevention, diagnosis, and therapies through a combination of these assets by translating these basic scientific findings in a laboratory setting into potential treatments for disease. However, financial support for the smooth translation of this research into practical medicine and/or treatment is still insufficient, even though the need for progress is high. Under such circumstances, Hiroshima University is trying to solve these issues by initiating and activating appropriate procedures through the development of biodesign programs and other overseas extensions from own unique viewpoint. As a ‘must’ event for the pharma industry, join us for a discussion of these and other issues impacting the Japan market today and in the years ahead, with Professor Yasuki Kihara, MD, PhD, Vice-President of Hiroshima University.
