Event Overview:
In the midst of a sluggish economy, tourism has emerged as one of the fastest-growing industries in Japan, and it is the economic engine that has pushed regional land prices up for the first time in 27 years. Hotels continue to be built in many parts of the country faster than they can be staffed and have become attractive real estate investments. Japan Hotel REIT Advisors Co., Ltd., with a portfolio of 43 hotels in Japan’s most attractive markets, manages the country’s largest real estate investment trust (REIT) specializing in the hospitality segment. Join us in welcoming Japan Hotel REIT Advisors President and Representative Director Hisashi Furukawa, who will take us on a journey through Japan’s real estate investment market—from the bursting of the economic bubble to the present day. In his analysis, Mr. Furukawa will cover changes in long-term market trend, such as land values and inflation/deflation, as well as trends that have emerged in recent years surrounding inbound tourism and social media. Join us as he explains the allures and trepidations of the Japanese hotel investment business.
