Event Overview:
Co-hosted by the Energy Committee, the Government Relations Committee is pleased to host Mr. Yuki Shimazu, Deputy Director, Nuclear Energy Policy Planning Division, Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), who will speak on the topic "Energy policy in Japan six years after Fukushima." The meeting agenda is as follows: 1. Introductory Remarks 2. Embassy Update 3. Presentation: "Energy policy in Japan six years after Fukushima." Six and a half years have passed since the unforgettable accident at Fukushima-Daiichi. The accident was so severe and traumatic that it totally changed the energy landscape in Japan, and to some degree globally. Mr. Yuki Shimazu will give a talk on updated status of reviewing the Strategic Energy Plan 2014 and Japan’s nuclear energy policy. 4. Discussion / Q&A 5. Any Other Business About the Speaker: Mr. Yuki Shimazu is a Deputy Director in Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, where he is currently working at the Nuclear Energy Policy Planning Division, Agency for Natural Resources and Energy. He has also worked at the World Bank as a short-term consultant, engaged in the solar-powered irrigation project in Bangladesh. With the two degrees of MBA as well as MS in Aerospace Engineering, he has taught the global business strategy at a graduate school in Tokyo. Ken Haig, David G.
