Music in Brazil represents a broad spectrum of the country itself and is as diverse as the people. The early themes were derived from music brought by the first Portuguese settlers who landed in 1500 and the African slave labor that followed. Today, Brazilian music has expanded and is well known throughout the world thanks to the introduction of samba in the late 19th century and, later bossa nova, a style derived from samba that highlights Brazil’s understanding of jazz. Join us on October 25 as unique Brazilian musician Chiquinho brings you a sampling of it all.
Together with the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in Japan and the America-Japan Society, we offer you a night of great entertainment and delicious Brazilian food. We are also pleased to announce that Asahi Shuzo will be sponsoring the Japanese sake for this event.
