7/6/2017 [Fully Booked] [日本語イベントのご案内] Dream and Achieve: The Story of the J.League and the B.LeagueRead Now
Event Overview:
Although well-organized and relatively known in Japan, professional sports leagues only came into existence within the past 25 years (with the notable exception of professional baseball). The J.League, Japan's first professional association football league, emerged in 1992, and the B.League in 2016 (upon the merger of the bj league and the National Basketball League). The man who was involved in the creation of both leagues is Mr. Saburo Kawabuchi, who has a storied athletic career spanning from participating in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, playing in the Japan Soccer League, and managing the Japan national football team. In his post-athletic career, Mr. Kawabuchi was the first chairman of the J.League, president of the Japan Football Association from 2002-2008, and President of the Japan Basketball Association from 2015-2016. We are delighted to have the pleasure of hosting Mr. Kawabuchi, a pivotal figure in Japanese professional sports, who will discuss his inspiring story, as well as the genesis and development of the J.League and the B.League.
