Event Overview:

Even though the number of working women in Japan grows steadily thanks to the efforts of the Japanese government and private companies in increasing gender equality, it is said that the number of Japanese women in managerial positions remains small in contrast to other developed countries. It reflects the reality that Japanese women are facing in which many are forced to give up their career for childbirth and child rearing. When women return to work, many of them do not have many choices and tend to return as a part timer or temporary staff. Some effective measures have been taken, but Japan still lags behind, and professions, including accountancy, are not an exception.

In a bid to equip women with the skills necessary to succeed to and achieve in managerial positions, the Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (JICPA) has been promoting to women the importance and utility of acquiring accounting and finance skills.

Ms. Aiko Sekine, Chair and President of JICPA, will share her career story, starting from her work as a staff associate in a Big 4 accounting firm to becoming the first female head of JICPA. Additionally, she will discuss JICPA's efforts in promoting the role and participation of women in the profession and business more widely.

We hope that you will be able to join us at the event!
