Event Overview:
Rika, known for her sunny disposition and infectious laugh, thinks of herself as an ordinary kid from southern Yokohama, raised as a slightly rebellious middle child of a Japanese salaryman and stay-at-home mother. Quietly but fiercely proud of her normal upbringing, little did she know that, while her fellow university classmates were joining Japanese companies as “sougou-shoku (professional career track)” or “ippan-shoku (administrative career track)”, she would blaze a trail that few had followed before her. Rika is an international corporate M&A lawyer with over 20 years’ experience of working in London and Tokyo, is currently partner with the international law firm Squire Patton Boggs. She is an active leader and connector for Women in Law Japan, Lawyers for LGBT & Allies, European Business Council Legal Services Committee, Ashoka Foundation and Asia Society. Please join us to hear of her journey and fight for racial and gender equality in the workplace and be inspired to “be the change you wish to see”.
