Event Overview
Would you be concerned if your latest luxury handbag that you bought was a fake? No: not the one you knew was a fake (but decided not to buy). What if it was the medication you take every day? The Intellectual Property Committee invites you to this informative session on counterfeit goods in Japan. Jim Moynihan, Director, Louis Vuitton (LV) Intellectual Property (IP) Dept./Japan office and Tetsuya Ikeda, Director, Global Security APAC (covering Japan, Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia) of Pfizer Japan, will discuss: - The nature of counterfeit products in Japan and the region; - The role of the Internet in exacerbating the problem; - What are the broader implications to counterfeits; - How each company is tackling the problem; - How Blockchain technology can be used to combat counterfeiting; - What you can do. About the Speakers Before Louis Vuitton, Mr. Moynihan was with the US FBI since 1981 working, first as a Special Agent-Attorney and finishing as Unit Chief/Legal Attaché, investigating serious crime, fraud and other matters in the US and Japan. Since 2007, he has led LV Japan’s anti-counterfeiting efforts on behalf of its IP Department. Mr. Ikeda previously worked as secretary for a member of the House of Representatives in Japan’s parliament, as a director at Kroll Associates in Japan, as the Director of Security at Citigroup, and has been working anti-counterfeiting investigations for Pfizer since 2006. Come hear their sage perspective on this issue. ACCJ Intellectual Property Committee Scott A. Warren, Chair Jonathan Hobbs, Aiko Okada, Vice Chairs NOTE 1: This event is OFF THE RECORD.
