Event Overview:

Corning Incorporated is one of the world’s leading innovators in materials science. For 167 years, Corning has applied its expertise in glass science, ceramic science, and optical physics to develop products and processes that have transformed industries and enhanced people’s lives. Corning has a worldwide footprint and established the Japan entity in 1971 during the company’s early stage of globalization.

Yasuya Nakano, President of Corning International K.K., will discuss Corning’s commitment to life-changing innovation, explain Corning’s corporate strategy, and discuss how the company is innovating to solve tough challenges and support today’s most exciting growth industries. Corning’s mission is another 167 years of innovation and independence, but the company’s ultimate goal is a world that is better because of its efforts.

Mr. Nakano will begin by sharing examples from Corning’s long track record of inventions, which include the first glass bulbs for Thomas Edison’s electric light, the ceramic substrates at the heart of catalytic converters, the first low-loss optical fiber, fusion-formed display glass, and the world’s first glass cover for mobile devices. He will also describe Corning’s “innovation recipe.”

Next, Mr. Nakano will explain how Corning is leveraging its core capabilities to capture new growth opportunities and unleash new benefits for customers and end-users. These capabilities include 3 core technologies, 4 manufacturing/engineering platforms, and 5 market-access platforms. He will discuss the progress Corning has made innovating Optical Communications, Mobile Consumer Electronics, Display, Automotive, and Life Sciences Vessels, and provide examples of some of the groundbreaking technologies in their development. He will also share input from customers about their experience collaborating with Corning to drive their own innovation.

Corning’s track record is long, but its vision for the future is infinite. This is a not-to-be missed opportunity to learn how a company can succeed in a world where it is increasingly difficult for companies to survive and remain relevant long-term.
