Event Overview
Change is necessary and healthy for companies in competitive markets, but it can be a source of tension for both workers and management. Shifting roles and responsibilities may cause concern about the workplace and worry about failure. One symptom is reluctance among team members to fully participate in the process. Cultural differences can prevent this tension from being acknowledged, so change management in Japan—particularly in culturally diverse companies—can be fraught with challenges. Garnering support and buy-in—and maintaining that buy-in throughout the process—will lead to more reliable and robust change. In this session, Japan Intercultural Consulting founder and Managing Principal Rochelle Kopp will discuss change management in the context of Japan, including locally relevant techniques for promoting change and the effect of risk aversion on becoming comfortable with the process. Rochelle is a management consultant specializing in cross-cultural communication, human resources, leadership, and organizational development. She will share insights gained through helping Japanese companies become more successful in their global operations and non-Japanese companies find greater success in Japan through better cross-cultural communications, effective management practices, and employee engagement.
