Event Overview:

Osaka and the Kansai region have become important centers for Japanese and multinational businesses in recent years, with a sustained and continuing increase in international investment and tourism. In 2019 Osaka will host the G20 summit for the first time – welcoming representatives from the world’s 20 leading industrialized and emerging economies. Osaka-Kansai is also the front-runner to host World Expo 2025, while major cities in the Kansai region are strong favorites for the location of Japan’s first integrated resort, following the passage of the Integrated Resort Implementation Act in July.

One of the keys to the regions’ growth is the work by local governments and business communities to build collaborative relationships that provide innovative and mutually beneficial solutions to local needs.

Jakob Edberg, President & CEO of GR Japan, Japan’s leading government relations company, will share his insights on recent developments in the efforts of the regions’ business communities in this area, including how companies’ strategic engagement and communications activities with local governments have contributed to growth.

He will also speak about the evolving relationship between the national government and the Osaka and the Kansai regions, the outcome of the LDP leadership election on 20 September, and the impact of bills that will be deliberated during the extraordinary Diet session this fall.
