The 2nd AnNual ACCJ Shareholder ForumTHIS IS A FREE VIRTUAL EVENT
This year, Japan has adjusted the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Law [FEFTA] for reasons of national security. These changes vastly increase the number of listed companies deemed essential to national security, together with new reporting investment rules for these companies.
Come and join us at the second ACCJ Shareholder Forum to hear directly from leading Japanese companies, economists, strategists, and investors – ESG, Long/short, activists -- in the build up to what will be a very interesting shareholder meeting season, virtual or otherwise. The discussion promises to touch on views about the FETFA revisions; the asset managers and owners; and the corporate landscape, as well as key strategies to address investor stewardship in Japan. We are confirming our lineup of prominent speakers, which will be announced soon. In the meantime, we urge you to block time in your diaries. COVID-19 DERAILS JAPAN'S TOURISM BOOMTHIS IS A FREE VIRTUAL EVENT
SPEAKERS: Timothy Soper, Vice President Operations, Japan, Korea & Micronesia, Hilton
HOSTING COMMITTEE: Tourism Industry COVID-19 has put the brakes on what had been rapid growth for Japan’s tourism industry. Some 32.5 million inbound visitors arrived in 2019—the highest annual number on record. The surge capped a 10-year stretch of rising numbers and the government was eying 40 million for this year on the back of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. But times have changed, and the industry is struggling. Hotels have been especially hard hit, and the ACCJ Tourism Industry Committee has invited Hilton’s Timothy Soper, who is vice president of operations for Japan, Korea, and Micronesia, to share his insight into the current situation and the future.
Soper will cover these questions and more as he discusses the prospects for recovery, what shape it might take, and whether Japan will ever see 30 million inbound visitors in a single year again. A Q&A session will follow the presentation. ALL MEMBERS & THEIR GUESTS WELCOME |

Instructions for joining the virtual meeting will be sent to registered attendees after the above stated deadline.
Structural shifts in Japan’s pharmaceutical market are challenging the status quo. Recent advancements in the development of breakthrough therapies are changing the way in which we treat diseases and catalyzing significant reform in government policy. Strategic opportunities—including in specialty and biologics—alongside investment in innovation and launch underline Japan’s position as the second-largest market for R&D-driven pharma companies. However, continued pressure on healthcare spending is impacting both government policy and pharma-company strategy as a balance emerges to support patient access to newer, safer, more effective treatments. While companies that made the shift in strategy reap their rewards, those that did not are now reassessing their position. Join this “must” event for the pharma industry at which Alan Thomas, Director of Thought Leadership at IQVIA Japan K.K., will discuss these and other issues impacting the Japan market today and in the years ahead.
